Ganja International School

Welcome to Ganja International School

Ganja International School is a small private school in Ganja, Azerbaijan. It operates legally as "Yeni Bagcha" meaning "New Kindergarten".

At the very end of 2006 changes in the law in Azerbaijan meant that the school had to obtain a license to operate as a school. 'Ganja International School' was inspected by the Ministry of Education. They concluded that at the present time the school does not fulfil all the requirements for either a kindergarten or a school.

However the law in Azerbaijan allows businesses to offer courses without requiring a license and this is what the school now does, both for pre-school children and for children up to United Kingdom year 7.

With a few exceptions (such as some foreign children) children who follow these courses are also enrolled in Azerbaijani state schools. The courses help the children to meet both United Kingdom educational standards while not neglecting their Azerbaijani curriculum. In fact, the three children who are in the highest class fully met UK 'Key Stage 2' exam requirements when they took this exam in 2009. The exam was entirely in English.

The school has many distinctive features, which you will discover on the following pages.
